Popular Lakes in Greater Phoenix Area

Arizona Lake photoMany of us have decided to cancel or postpone travel to keep our families save but Arizona has some beautiful lakes surrounded by scenic mountains and desert.  Did you know Arizona has 128 lakes?  Take your family, visitors and friends to one of our beautiful lakes for a day of boating and swimmig,  just a short drive outside of the valley:

Saguaro Lake

Saguaro Lake is located past Fountain Hills, 40 miles east of central Phoenix.  It's a very scenic lake and popular for water skiing or wakboardng, boating and fishing.  Have guests in town?  Treat them to a 90 minute guided tour of the lake on the airconditioned Desert Belle paddle boat.

Bartlett Lake

Bartlett Lake is located 45 miles north of central Phoenix, east of Carefree.  This is the second largest lake in the Tonto National Forest and is popular to locals for swimming, boating, water activities and camping.  Bartlett Lake marina offers all types of boats, jet skis and party yachts for rental.  Check with the marina for camping and fire restrictions during summer months. 

Lake Pleasant

North of Glendale, about 45 minutes from downtown Phoenix you'll find the popular 10,000 acre Lake Pleasant.  The lake is always busy and offers swimming, fishing, boating, jet skiing, paddle boaring as well as world’s largest floating waterslide.   Most equipment can be rented at the marina. After. a day on the lake, visit the waterfront restraurant Dillons BBQ for a refreshing beverage and food. 

Roosevelt Lake

Roosevelt Lake is the largest lake outside of the greater Phoenix ara and is located approximately 80 miles northeast of Phoenix.  The lake offers 110 miles of shorelines with coves to day camp or fish.  The marina offers plenty of watersports activities as well as caming and RV sites.  Roosevelt Resort Park Loding &  Restaurant offers rooms, mobile homes and cabins for rental.

Canyon Lake

Approximately 50 miles east of Phoenix, past Mesa in the Superstition Wilderness of Tonto National Forest is the 950 acre Canyon Lake offering a variety of watersports, camping, a restaurant and a relaxing beach area and other designated swim areas.  You can rent boats, kayaks and paddle boats from Canyon Lake Marina & Camp Ground.

Apache Lake

Apache Lake is approximatly 2 hours east of Phoenix Metro and only accessible via the Apache Trail, also known as State Route 88.  It's a less populated lake which makes is great for fishing and camping.  The marina offers reasonable rates for boat rentals on a  first come first serve basis.
